Grants Writer, Full-time

Next Door Solutions, a non-profit dedicated to providing programs and services to survivors of domestic violence, is looking for an experienced professional to create and submit grant proposals. This position plays a strategic role in helping to raise support from foundations, government grants, and corporations. This individual will manage all our grant writing, and reports to funders, and will work closely with a multicultural team.

Reports to: Director of Development

Responsibilities:

  • Research prospective funding sources and evaluate alignment with Next Door Solutions’ programs, initiatives, and mission. Cultivate new prospects to help Next Door Solutions achieve annual revenue goals.
  • Write compelling grant proposals for timely submission to current and prospective funders.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally with appropriate staff to align with the agency’s current priorities and establish achievable grant outcomes.
  • Provide timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements and procedures.
  • Coordinate site visits of potential funding sources.
  • Represent Next Door Solutions at informational grant meetings hosted by foundations, corporations, or governmental agencies; speak on behalf of Next Door Solutions at public hearings concerning funding recommendations.
  • Maintain the Grants Matrix, Calendar (Google Calendar) and Tasks in Bloomerang CRM for timely submissions and to track progress of submissions and for reporting.
  • Create content for grant reporting to foundation, community and faith-based organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five or more years grants development and management experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills, including an ability to write persuasive proposals.
  • Passion for the organization’s mission
  • Strong track record of building successful relationships with funders.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to both work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and carry out activities independently to meet specific timelines and revenue goals; ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments is essential.
  • Ability to multi-task, determining how to juggle competing priorities and manage donors’ expectations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to be flexible, creative and solutions-oriented.
  • Significant level of computer proficiency
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and follow-through
  • Desire and ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.
  • Intellectual agility and demonstrated ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
